The warm colors of maple syrup come from a variety of factors such as the weather, a regular collection process, and a delicate boiling and filtration process. The flavor however comes from nature itself. The individuality of the sugar maple tree, it’s location, and the terrain that surrounds it. Each of these elements play a crucial role in the commercial value of maple syrup.
How's it made?
The sap used to produce maple syrup comes from two species of maple trees; the sugar maple (80% of production) and the red or soft maple (20% of production).
The harvesting of maple sap takes place every year in March and April, over an approximate six week time span. On average, each sugar maple tree produces one quart of maple syrup per year, making it a precious commodity!
